Wildscape Atlas is operated by Wildscape Adventures LLC, doing business as Wildscape Adventure.
This Privacy Policy explains how Wildscape Atlas collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the Wildscape Atlas mobile application and related services.
By using Wildscape Atlas, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Wildscape Atlas collects information necessary to provide accounts, Field Reports, maps, community features, photography resources, safety information, and other app functionality.
Account and Profile Information
When you create a Wildscape Atlas account, we may collect information including your name, email address, username, public display name, profile photograph or avatar, biography, city, state, selected local park, and account identifiers.
Authentication information is used to securely operate your account. Wildscape Atlas does not display your account password to other users.
User-Generated Content
Information you choose to submit through Wildscape Atlas may include photographs, videos, Field Reports, captions, comments, reactions, wildlife observations, landscape observations, night-sky observations, reports of inappropriate content, disputes, and beta feedback.
Content that you intentionally publish to community areas of Wildscape Atlas may be visible to other Wildscape Atlas users.
Location Information
Wildscape Atlas may collect precise location information when you choose to provide location data for a Field Report or use location-dependent features.
Precise wildlife locations are treated differently from ordinary public profile information. Wildscape Atlas is designed to restrict public access to exact wildlife coordinates and may generalize, delay, or otherwise limit the public presentation of sensitive wildlife-location information.
Authorized administrative functions may have access to more precise location information when necessary for moderation, verification, safety, security, or operation of the service.
You can control device-location permissions through your Android or iOS settings. Some features may not work properly if location permission is disabled.
Photographs and Media
If you choose to create a Field Report, avatar, or other media submission, Wildscape Atlas may access photographs or other media that you select from your device or capture through your device.
Wildscape Atlas does not access your entire photo library merely because you upload an individual photograph. Access depends on the permissions you grant through your device.
Community Activity
We may process information about activity within Wildscape Atlas, including Likes, Loves, comments, mentions, notifications, blocked accounts, content reports, moderation actions, and other interactions necessary to operate community features.
Technical and Security Information
Wildscape Atlas and the service providers used to operate it may process technical information necessary to provide and secure the service. This can include information such as IP address, device or application information, authentication events, error information, security logs, and other technical records.
This information may be used to diagnose problems, prevent abuse, protect accounts, maintain service reliability, and investigate security incidents.
How We Use Information
We use information collected through Wildscape Atlas to operate and improve the application, authenticate users, maintain user profiles, receive and display Field Reports, provide community functionality, provide map and location features, protect sensitive wildlife locations, moderate content, process reports and disputes, respond to support requests, investigate abuse, improve app stability, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
We may also use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how Wildscape Atlas is being used and to improve the service.
Public Information
Some information submitted to Wildscape Atlas is intended to be shared with other users.
Depending on the feature, this may include your public username or handle, display name, avatar, biography, Field Reports, photographs, comments, reactions, and generalized location information associated with a Field Report.
Your email address and exact protected wildlife coordinates are not intended to be publicly displayed as part of normal community use.
Users should avoid including private information in captions, comments, biographies, photographs, or other content that they do not want other users to see.
Wildlife Location Protection
Wildscape Atlas is designed with wildlife safety and responsible wildlife viewing in mind.
Exact wildlife location information may be withheld from public display, generalized, delayed, or otherwise protected. Public map information should not be interpreted as an exact real-time location of an animal.
These protections are intended to reduce disturbance to wildlife and discourage inappropriate crowding, pursuit, harassment, or other unsafe activity.
Wildscape Atlas users remain responsible for following all applicable park regulations, wildlife-distance requirements, closures, and local laws.
Offline Drafts
Wildscape Atlas may allow Field Reports and related media to be temporarily stored on your device while you are offline.
Offline drafts generally remain on the device until they are submitted, deleted, or otherwise removed through the application or device.
Once submitted, the information may be transmitted to Wildscape Atlas systems as described in this Privacy Policy.
Service Providers
Wildscape Atlas relies on third-party technology providers to operate portions of the service, including cloud database and authentication services, file storage, application infrastructure, maps, and application distribution.
These providers may process information on our behalf when necessary to provide their services.
For example, Wildscape Atlas currently uses cloud services associated with Supabase for application infrastructure and Google Maps Platform for Android mapping functionality.
Information handled by third-party providers may also be subject to their own privacy and security policies.
We do not authorize service providers to use Wildscape Atlas user information for unrelated purposes beyond providing their services to us, except as permitted or required by law.
Sale of Personal Information
Wildscape Atlas does not sell personal information.
Wildscape Atlas does not currently contain third-party advertising.
If our data practices materially change in the future, this Privacy Policy and applicable app-store disclosures will be updated.
Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Information transmitted between Wildscape Atlas and supporting services is handled using secure network connections where supported.
No electronic service can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their login credentials and notify us if they believe their account has been compromised.
Data Retention
We retain account information and user content for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Wildscape Atlas, maintain your account, provide requested services, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, protect users and wildlife, and meet legal or regulatory requirements.
When an account is deleted, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with that account in accordance with our account-deletion process.
Limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud or abuse prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or documentation of a deletion request. Any information retained for these purposes will not be used to reactivate or continue operating a deleted user account.
Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your Wildscape Atlas account and associated data.
Account deletion can be initiated through the account or privacy settings within Wildscape Atlas.

Google Play requires apps that permit account creation to provide both an in-app account-deletion path and a separate web-based deletion resource. Google Help
Your Choices
You may update certain profile information through Wildscape Atlas, control application permissions through your device settings, block other users, report content, request a copy of certain account information where available, and request deletion of your account.
You may stop using Wildscape Atlas at any time.
Deleting the application from your device does not by itself delete your Wildscape Atlas account.
Children and Age Eligibility
Wildscape Atlas is intended for adults and is not designed or directed toward children.
The intended Google Play audience for Wildscape Atlas is 18 years of age and older.
We do not knowingly solicit account registration from children.
Legal Requirements and Safety
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, enforce our policies, investigate fraud or abuse, protect the security of Wildscape Atlas, or protect the rights and safety of users, wildlife, Wildscape Adventures LLC, or others.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Wildscape Atlas develops or as legal, technical, or operational requirements change.
When material changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective or last-updated date.
